Pinterest board as your Windows wallpaper: two ways to set it up
Updated 3 October 2026
Windows can't read Pinterest by itself, but you can still get a board onto your desktop. There are two ways, depending on how much you want to keep it up to date.
Option 1: a slideshow, by hand (free)
This uses the slideshow built into Windows. It shows one picture at a time.
- Make a folder, for example
Pictures\Board. - On pinterest.com, open each pin you want, right-click the picture and pick Save image as into that folder. Pinterest has no button to download a whole board.
- Open Settings › Personalization › Background.
- Set Personalize your background to Slideshow and choose your folder with Browse.
- Pick how often it changes, and turn on Shuffle if you like.
Good for: a handful of favourite images that rarely change. Not so good for: a board you're still adding pins to, because new pins never reach the folder unless you save them again.
Option 2: a live grid with tak
tak reads the board for you and lays dozens of pins out together, like the board itself, on every screen.
- Copy the board's link (where to find it). It needs to be a public board.
- Paste it into tak. The wallpaper builds in a few seconds.
- Keep pinning. Every 30 minutes tak lays the board out again and adds what you've saved since.
It reads the 50 or so most recent pins of a board, and skips videos.
Which one should you use?
If you only want one picture at a time and don't mind updating it, the Windows slideshow is enough. If you want the board itself on your screen, staying current as you pin, that's what tak is for.
tak lays a public Pinterest board out across your Windows desktop and refreshes it on its own. Free for 7 days, no card.
